SHAH ALAM, Oct 7 — Issues in Lembah Jaya may be resolved with better coordination between local authorities and government agencies, said assemblyman Syed Ahmad Abdul Rahman Alhadad.

He said his recent meeting with the Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) focused on local issues including abandoned vehicles and flooding, which involve different government agencies.

“Our discussion focused on issues raised in MPAJ, as well as the (cooperation) between the council and other government agencies.

“For example, (the issue of) abandoned vehicles involve the Road Transport Department (JPJ), while local flooding involves agencies like the Hulu Langat Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS).

“We also discussed our respective jurisdictions and how we can improve cooperation between all the agencies and local authorities, as well as how I as Lembah Jaya assemblyman can facilitate better coordination and teamwork,” he said when contacted yesterday.

In a Facebook post yesterday, MPAJ’s Enforcement Department said its meeting with Syed Ahmad covered local concerns including safety, cleanliness and public order, as well as the issue of abandoned vehicles in Lembah Jaya and measures it has taken to address the problem.

“The meeting also touched on issues involving foreigners, including the Rohingya community, which require cooperation and integrated action with relevant agencies such as police, the Home Ministry and the Immigration Department.

“The issue of compliance with business premises licences, including the operation of premises with the ‘Ali Baba’ concept, was also given focus to ensure every front complies with the licensing conditions and regulations set,” the council said.

MPAJ also said the presence of heavy vehicles along roads in relation to road safety, traffic, and appropriate enforcement action was discussed.

It added that the bilateral meeting with Syed Ahmad reflects its commitment to strengthening cooperation with people’s representatives and agencies concerned to resolve local issues.
