SHAH ALAM, Oct 25 - The Sepang Municipal Council (MPSepang) has won the top award in the Best Local Government-Led Initiative category at Malaysia's Scroll of Honour Award 2026 for its Cyberjaya Inclusive Park, an autism-friendly recreational facility.
In a Facebook post, MPSepang said its president Dr Ani Ahmat, received the award during the national-level World Habitat Day 2026 celebration in Putrajaya on October 23.
The event, themed "The Future City I Want to Call Home", was officiated by Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.
The Cyberjaya Inclusive Park initiative aims to provide a safe, comfortable, and accessible public space that caters to the needs of individuals with autism and their families.
The project is designed to ensure that autistic individuals can enjoy recreational facilities suited to their needs while promoting greater inclusivity within the community.
"This project reflects a development approach that prioritises the diverse needs of the community and ensures that public facilities can be enjoyed by everyone," the council said in a statement.
MPSepang also added that the national recognition would encourage the council to further strengthen innovation in urban planning and development.
The award also highlights the importance of developing public facilities that accommodate different community needs, particularly those of individuals with autism.
The recognition aligns with the council’s aspiration to transform Sepang into a sustainable, liveable and inclusive district.
