PUCHONG, Oct 24 — The Selangor government plans to keep conducting walking audits to identify urgent problems with pedestrian paths to public transport stations, said state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han.
He said the audits will be done by local council and related agencies’ representatives, with a focus on walkways around LRT and MRT stations, following user feedback submitted at the Selangor Mobility Symposium during the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) last week.
“These audits will be conducted consistently and not just once. This is to ensure problems … can be identified and existing facilities can be improved according to user needs.
“We want to ensure areas near stations have safe, comfortable pedestrian paths,” the Kinrara assemblyman said when met after presenting Jom Shopping vouchers for Deepavali to his constituents here today.
Ng said the audits would involve the Public Works Department (JKR) and public transport handlers to ensure weakness can be overcome as soon as possible, with focus not just on areas near train stations but also around schools.
“Audit results will be shared with agencies concerned so issues identified receive the warranted focus and action, especially for paths that need urgent repairs,” he explained.
In June, Ng told all 12 local councils in Selangor to prioritise building pedestrian paths to public transport stations to improve mobility access.
