SHAH ALAM, Oct 23 — Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation), or MBI, today recommended the Selangor People’s Tuition Programme (PTRS) include Form 3 students, with a focus on mathematics.
Yayasan MBI head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the foundation hopes for more funding under the 2027 Selangor Budget to realise the expansion.
“My hope is for there to be more allocated (funds) for PTRS so we can expand this programme to Form 3 students.
“I’m confident we can involve Form 3 students, especially for mathematics,” he said when met after presenting zakat wakalah contributions on behalf of the foundation here today.
He added that the expanded programme would help the foundation achieve its target of enrolling 200,000 students, in line with the state government’s manifesto.
Azri said he provided education-related input in a recent discussion with Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari.
“Our side, as an agency involved in the education field, was invited to provide input,” he added.
Amirudin is set to table the 2027 Selangor Budget on November 13.
