KLANG, Oct 21 — Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporation), or MBI, hopes the investigation into the death of a Year 1 pupil at SK Dengkil is expedited, including whether negligence was involved.
Yayasan MBI head Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said a comprehensive investigation is essential to identify the cause of the incident and to prevent a recurrence.
“If the investigation reveals the incident was caused by choking on food, the school could review the types of food brought onto the premises to prevent such an occurrence from happening again,” he told Media Selangor today.
Azri also said the foundation intends to visit the victim’s family soon to provide a donation and offer support, as asked to by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari after he learnt of the incident through social media posts.
“We also express our deepest sympathies over the passing of the deceased and hope the family stays strong in facing this trial,” he added.
Azri said the foundation has also reached out to the Selangor State Education Department (JPNS) and the Sepang District Education Office (PPD) for more information on the incident.
Yesterday, police reported that Derma Damiya Nur Mikayla Mior Shahrizal, 7, was taken to Putrajaya Hospital after having breathing difficulties at school. Initial respiratory assistance was provided at the scene. She died at hospital later.
