SHAH ALAM, Oct 23 — Yayasan Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated), or Yayasan MBI, is offering RM500 each to 100 students enrolled in the Selangor People's Tuition Programme (PTRS) who achieve at least 8As in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) examination.
Yayasan MBI chief Ahmad Azri Zainal Nor said the initiative was part of efforts to recognise students who demonstrate outstanding academic performance.
“As part of our standard practice, we provide RM500 in recognition of PTRS students who achieve 8As in their examinations.
“We have allocated RM500 each for 100 students,” he said when met after the Majlis Munajat Perdana for the 2026 SPM cohort at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque.

Ahmad Azri said the RM500 incentive complements the Selangor government's various educational initiatives aimed at producing more high-achieving students and developing quality human capital in the state.
PTRS is a free Selangor government educational initiative that provides digital learning materials through the ePTRS platform, as well as face-to-face tuition classes, to help improve students' academic performance.
Introduced in 2009, the free tuition programme offers supplementary classes in Bahasa Melayu, English, Mathematics, Science, History and Additional Mathematics for Form 4 and Form 5 students from low-income (B40) families or those with average to poor academic performance.
Previously, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari announced that the Selangor government plans to introduce Biology as a new subject in the PTRS module next year.
Amirudin said the addition aims to improve SPM results in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) subjects.
The 2026 SPM examinations will run from October 26 to December 17.
