KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 — Malaysia Semiconductor Recruitment Day (MSRD) 2026, held as part of AiSEM@Selangor, drew more than 8,000 jobseekers. More than 60 semiconductor employers took part, offering over 1,500 jobs.

Organised by the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC) with the Advanced Semiconductor Academy of Malaysia (ASEM), MSRD took place across Halls 4 and 7 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, with its own dedicated stage in Hall 4 hosting industry talks and programme sessions.

Fresh graduates and experienced professionals met employers including Intel, SanDisk, STMicroelectronics, Altera, AT&S, X-FAB, Melexis, SSMC, SkyeChip, ViTrox, MaiStorage and Mi Equipment.

More career paths, better pay

Opportunities spanned IC design, verification, manufacturing, test, packaging and equipment. Roles in demand included process, equipment, physical design, design verification, software and AI/machine learning engineers. Participating employers listed salaries from RM5,000 to RM8,000 for fresh graduates and up to RM40,000 for senior positions.

The top hiring companies alone accounted for nearly 1,000 hires, led by AT&S, STMicroelectronics, Intel, UST Global, MaiStorage, ViTrox, Wistron and Chipbond Technology Malaysia.

“These are well-paid, high-skill jobs, from IC design to equipment engineering, and they’re right here in Malaysia,” said SIDEC chief executive officer Yong Kai Ping. “Every engineer who finds a role through MSRD is one more who can build a career at home instead of looking overseas.”

Talent from across Malaysia

More than 50 universities and institutions took part, ranging from public universities such as UM, UKM, UPM, UTM, UiTM, UniMAP and UTHM to private institutions including Monash University Malaysia, University of Nottingham Malaysia, Sunway University, and Taylor’s University, as well as polytechnics in Klang and Sungai Buloh.

“This is our third year organising MSRD, and we are proud to see it grow to twice the size of last year, becoming a dedicated platform for Malaysia’s semiconductor industry,” said ASEM general manager Angel Low.

“Over the years, I have met many families who shared their concerns about their children struggling to secure engineering jobs despite spending four years earning their degrees.

“This is why MSRD matters to us. Beyond connecting talent with employers, we have expanded the platform to include international industry networking, talent engagement, pre-university awareness and innovation workshops. We want to create opportunities at every stage of the talent journey, and we are committed to doing more to support Malaysia’s semiconductor ecosystem,” she added.

New partners and programmes

MSRD brought on new strategic partners, Nuffic, SEMI Southeast Asia and LinkedIn, and extended its reach to Japan, the UK, China and India. The programme featured more than 40 industry speakers and six new pilot tracks: Silicon Nexus, Silicon Connect, Silicon Explorer, Silicon Sandbox, Silicon STAR and the Silicon Awards.

MSRD was part of AiSEM@Selangor, held from October 14 to 17 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre and Grand Hyatt Kuala Lumpur.
