SHAH ALAM, Oct 19 — About 60 metres of signalling cable are believed to have been cut, causing a temporary disruption to KTM services along the Padang Jawa route earlier this morning.
Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) said in a statement that the missing four-core, 16mm cable was discovered following reports of service disruptions along the stretch from Padang Jawa through Shah Alam to Batu Tiga at 6.20 am.
Following the reports, KTMB auxiliary police personnel were deployed to the scene.
"Following the initial report of a track occupancy issue, personnel were dispatched to the location to conduct a thorough inspection.
"The on-site inspection revealed that approximately 60 metres of four-core, 16mm signalling cable had been cut," the statement said today.
KTMB added that its technical team was carrying out repairs and reconnecting the cable to restore normal train schedules.
The railway operator also pledged to tighten security along high-risk sections of the line to curb vandalism and the theft of railway assets.

"Through its auxiliary police force, KTMB will intensify patrols and security monitoring to protect track infrastructure and ensure that train operations continue to run smoothly," the statement added.
KTMB also urged the public to share any information about suspicious activities near railway tracks.
"The public are urged to contact the KTMB auxiliary police information collection and dissemination centre at 03-2263 1194, which operates 24 hours a day.
"Information can also be shared with the nearest police station for immediate action," it said.
