JAKARTA, Sept 29 — Former Indonesian president Joko Widodo has extended his condolences to former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his family following the passing of his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali.
Widely known as Jokowi, he expressed his deep sorrow over Dr Siti's passing and prayed that Dr Mahathir and the entire family would be granted strength, fortitude and patience.
“We bid her farewell with our prayers. May Allah accept all her good deeds and acts of worship,” he said in a social media post.
Dr Siti Hasmah died at the National Heart Institute at 9.20am yesterday at the age of 100, leaving behind her widower and their seven children.
The deceased was accorded a state funeral before being laid to rest at Pusara Negara in Precinct 20, Putrajaya, at 6.20pm on the same day.
