KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 — His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, the King of Malaysia, has given royal assent to seven Acts passed during the Second Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament, held from June 22 to July 16.
Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Datuk Seri Ramli Mohd Nor said the Acts include the Employment Insurance System (Amendment) Act 2026 and the Sexual Offences Against Children (Amendment) Act 2026.
The other are the National Trust Fund Act 2026, the Road Transport (Amendment) Act 2026, the Witness Protection (Amendment) Act 2026, the Communications and Multimedia (Amendment) Act 2026, and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (Amendment) Act 2026.
He announced the royal assent at the start of the Third Meeting of the Fifth Session of the 15th Parliament, which will sit for 37 days from today until December 8.
Budget 2027 will be among the key matters debated and deliberated during the meeting, with its second reading brought forward to 3.30pm this Friday (October 5).
“This week, the Dewan Rakyat is also expected to focus on briefings on reports by select committee chairmen, debate on the Auditor-General’s Report 2/2026 and bills,” Ramli said.
Three briefings by select committee chairmen on their respective committee reports were also presented today.
Ramli, on behalf of Parliament, also extended condolences to former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his family over the death of his wife Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali on Monday (September 28).
