PETALING JAYA, Sept 27 — Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin yesterday launched a special fundraiser for the disabled (OKU) community, with a target of collecting RM5 million.
The year-long campaign was introduced at the Yayasan Insan Istimewa Selangor (YANIS) gala dinner at One World Hotel here last night.
Her Royal Highness was welcomed by state executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari and YANIS chief executive officer Kamarul Hisham Yeop Hashim.
Anfaal, in her speech at the event, said YANIS has mobilised various strategic initiatives to help the disabled community in Selangor.
“These initiatives encompass empowerment projects through the Independent Living Support Centre (ILSC) to build target groups’ abilities and skills, welfare care projects through Bantuan Rahmah Insan Istimewa (BRAIS) and ANIS Centre.
“(Efforts to) build a support ecosystem are also pursued through the Cerebral Palsy Care Unit (CPCU) and YANIS Academy to create a comprehensive long-term track.
“YANIS continues to move forward with the Special Children’s Parents’ Module (MANIS) to guide and build parents and guardians’ capabilities,” she added.
“Corporate sector contributions are a strategic investment to build a sustainable community ecosystem,” Anfaal said, welcoming corporate and community members to contribute their expertise and resources and provide jobs for vulnerable groups.
