CYBERJAYA, Sept 26 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj opened the Royal Selangor Polo and Equestrian Club (RSPEC) today.
His Royal Highness and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin arrived at 9.40am and were received by RSPEC president Datuk Syed Budriz Putra Jamalullail.
The event was held in conjunction with Sultan Sharafuddin's Silver Jubilee.
RSPEC said the royal presence underscored the club’s position as a premier sporting destination that combines a rich equestrian heritage with a wide range of recreational facilities and community-oriented experiences, while opening up new opportunities for the development of sports and world-class sports tourism in Selangor.
“RSPEC was developed with a clear vision to elevate polo and equestrian sports to greater heights, while creating a sporting destination that is accessible, vibrant and relevant to the community,” it said in a statement.
Sultan Sharafuddin and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin toured the premises and received a briefing on the club's world-class polo and equestrian facilities.
The complex features a polo field surrounded by a one-kilometre sand track, 136 horse stalls, as well as indoor and outdoor arenas.
Designed to meet stringent international standards, the facilities strengthen Selangor’s capacity to host prestigious tournaments at both regional and domestic levels.
