Selangor opens 50,000 new Skim Mesra slots for elderly, disabled folk

SHAH ALAM, Sept 15 — The Selangor government has announced a special quota of 50,000 new slots for Skim Mesra, with applications opening on Thursday, said state executive councillor for women empowerment and welfare Anfaal Saari.

She added that the scheme, administered through Yayasan Warisan Anak Selangor (YAWAS), provides an annual incentive of RM150 from the state government.

She said the initiative was introduced as a token of appreciation for senior citizens and people with disabilities (OKU) in their birthday months.

“For the senior citizen category, applicants must be Malaysian citizens aged 60 and above and registered voters residing in the state,” she said in a statement today.

Anfaal said OKU applicants must be Malaysian citizens of any age with a valid disability card issued by the Social Welfare Department (JKM).

“For voting and residency requirements, applicants must be at least 19 years old, registered voters and residing in Selangor. For applicants aged 18 and below, their parents must meet registration requirements,” she said.

She said the benefits will be distributed next year, adding that the state government is committed to advancing its welfare agenda to build an inclusive community and ensure no one is left behind.

“Eligible applicants can register online through the official Skim Mesra YAWAS portal,” she said.

For more information or for help with registration, applicants may contact the YAWAS hotline at 03-5481 8800 or email pertanyaan.yawas@gmail.com.
