SHAH ALAM, Oct 27 — The state government is committed to strengthening the care economy holistically in 2027 as it seeks to establish the state as a leading care economy and investment hub in Southeast Asia.

State executive councillor for women empowerment and social welfare Anfaal Saari said the agenda will continue to expand, covering support for households, caregiver empowerment, and the provision of community-based services.

“Among the initiatives that will continue to be strengthened are the Care Equipment Assistance, the Caregiver Empowerment Programme, Skim Mesra Usia Emas (SMUE), Skim Mesra Insan Istimewa (SMIS), and Khairat Darul Ehsan (KDE).

“The state government is therefore committed to continuing and expanding the care economy agenda holistically in 2027, including support for households, caregiver empowerment, and community services,” she told Media Selangor.

Anfaal added that the approach went beyond welfare assistance, positioning the care economy as a form of social investment that meets people’s needs throughout their lives.

Selangor also has the potential to become a destination for care and health tourism, as the state seeks to establish itself as a leading care economy and investment hub in Southeast Asia.

Meanwhile, she said the state government will undertake special overseas trade missions to explore investment opportunities and expand networks in the sector.

These efforts will leverage platforms such as the Selangor International Business Summit (SIBS) and the ASEAN Summit networks to showcase Selangor’s care economy potential to investors and regional strategic partners.

Anfaal noted that the initiative is expected to strengthen the state’s care ecosystem through collaboration between the government, communities, and the private sector, while creating opportunities for new economic growth driven by care needs.

In a separate development, the councillor said the Selangor International Care Expo (SICE), which ran from October 15 to October 17, also recorded potential investments worth RM7.8 million through 128 business-matching sessions.

Of the total, RM1.98 million involved medical devices and assistive equipment, while RM5.82 million covered care services, digital health, and training.
