SEMENYIH, Sept 12 — Eighty-one Indonesians detained for immigration offences were repatriated through the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) yesterday, said the Selangor branch of the Immigration Department (JIM).
It managed the repatriation of 50 Indonesians held at the Semenyih Immigration Detention Depot, while another 31 Indonesians held at Negeri Sembilan’s Millennium Temporary Immigration Detention Depot were also sent home.
“For the repatriation on September 11, 2026, 50 Indonesians were (sent home on) two flights, with 16 detainees sent back to Jakarta at 8.10pm via KLIA Terminal 1 and 34 detainees sent back to Medan at 9.35pm via KLIA Terminal 2.
“The airfare for all 50 Indonesians was funded by Indonesia’s immigration and corrections minister, following a visit by the minister on Friday, September 4, 2026,” Selangor JIM said in a Facebook post today.
It said the effort reflects close cooperation between Malaysia and Indonesia in handling immigration detainees and facilitating their return home.
Also present was Selangor JIM deputy director (management) Redman Safar.
“Selangor JIM continues its commitment to enforcing and managing immigration detainees professionally, with integrity, and in accordance with the law, while strengthening cooperation with diplomatic representatives of the countries concerned to ensure the smooth and effective conduct of the return process,” it said.
