SHAH ALAM, Sept 10 -SHAH ALAM, Sept 10 - The Selangor contingent closed the curtain on the Para Malaysia Games (SUKMA) 2026 swimming competition with a proud achievement, collecting a total of 34 gold, six silver and 20 bronze medals over four days of competition at the Selangor Aquatic Centre.
The haul saw the home squad emerge as the most outstanding contingent in the swimming event, with a total of 60 medals, asserting Selangor’s dominance throughout the competition, which took place from Sept 7 to 10.
Selangor also left its closest challenger, Sabah, behind, with the state collecting 16 gold, 14 silver and 10 bronze medals, while Sarawak finished third with 10 gold, five silver and 10 bronze.
On the final day of the competition, Selangor added seven gold medals through Alysha Aryana Mohd Khairul Azli in the 200m individual medley SM14, Amirul Akil Mohd I’zzat Emir (100m breaststroke SB12), Saiful Rizal Abdullah (100m breaststroke SB14), Muhammad Safwan Suhaimi (100m backstroke S9) and Ahmad Darwisy Irfan Hishamuddin (100m freestyle S13).
Selangor also dominated the two team events contested, winning gold in the 4x100m Freestyle Mixed 34 Points and 4x100m Medley S14.
Consistent performances throughout the four days of competition saw Selangor swimmers successfully contribute gold medals through individual and team events.
The success also marked another major contribution by the swimming squad to the Selangor contingent in its efforts to achieve excellence at this year’s Para SUKMA Games.
The four-day swimming competition concluded today, with Selangor emerging as the dominant contingent after a strong performance against swimmers from across the country.
