
SHAH ALAM, Sept 11 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj has expressed his admiration and pride over the Selangor contingent's double triumph emerging first at the Malaysia Games (SUKMA) and Para SUKMA 2026.
Sultan Sharafuddin and the Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin both extended their highest congratulations and appreciation to the entire state contingent on the proud achievement.
The wishes were shared on Facebook by the Selangor Royal Office today.
Sultan Sharafuddin also said the historic achievement reflected the athletes' high fighting spirit, discipline, diligence and extraordinary commitment in elevating the state's sporting prestige.
“His Royal Highness is deeply impressed and proud of this historic achievement, which reflects the high fighting spirit, discipline, perseverance, and extraordinary commitment of the athletes in elevating the stature of sports in the state of Selangor.
“His Royal Highness also extends his appreciation to the coaches, team managers, the athletes' families, and all parties who played a pivotal role and provided continuous support, making this proud success possible,” the post said.
In this edition of SUKMA, the Selangor contingent secured 101 gold medals out of a total of 245.
On Friday, Selangor Para SUKMA contingent also delivered an outstanding performance, winning 93 gold medals out of a total of 200.
Sultan Sharafuddin also expressed hope that the athletes and coaches would not be easily satisfied with their achievements.
He hoped that they would instead continue to strive to improve their performance and aim for higher levels of success, including on the national and international stages.
“His Royal Highness prayed that Selangor’s athletes would continue to achieve further success and bring glory to the State of Selangor and Malaysia in the future,” the post added.
