SHAH ALAM, Sept 8 — Selangor continues to dominate the swimming competition at Para Malaysia Games (Para SUKMA) 2026, collecting 20 gold medals after two days of competition at the Selangor Aquatic Centre.
The host contingent added 13 gold, two silver and three bronze medals today, taking its overall tally to 20 gold, four silver and eight bronze.
The achievement puts Selangor comfortably at the top of the swimming medal standings, with a 12-gold advantage over Sabah, which has collected eight gold, nine silver and six bronze medals.
Federal Territories are third with five gold, 11 silver and four bronze, followed by Sarawak with five gold, five silver and six bronze.
Selangor opened its campaign with seven gold medals on the first day before maintaining its impressive momentum today.
Among the gold medallists was Amirul Akil Mohd I’zzat Emir in the men’s 100m freestyle S12, while Ahnad Darwisy Irfan Hishamuddin won two gold medals in the 50m freestyle S13 and 100m breaststroke SB13.
Muhammad Safwan Suhaimi also contributed two gold medals in the 100m butterfly S9 and 200m individual medley, while Saiful Rizal Abdullah won the 50m breaststroke SB14.
In the women’s events, Nur Qaseh Qaisara Ahmad Saifudin won the 50m freestyle S4-S5, Lim Carmen took gold in the 50m freestyle S6-S8, while Durratun Musfirah Nor Ahmad secured two gold medals in the 100m butterfly S14 and 50m breaststroke SB14.
Natalie Bianca Edmund Dass also contributed a gold medal in the 50m breaststroke SB4-SB5.
Selangor also excelled in the team events, winning the 4x100m medley 34 points through Putri Nur Farisha Mohd Razif, Muhammad Aisy Mazlan, Lim Carmen and Muhammad Safwan Suhaimi.
Another gold came from the S14 4x100m freestyle team comprising Muhammad Niyaz Mukhriz Mohd Nazri, Danish Haiqal Ahmad Firdaus, Saiful Rizal Abdullah and Nik Joe Ashraff Nik Rafizal.
Selangor’s dominance in the pool is expected to remain a key focus as the competition resumes tomorrow.
