SHAH ALAM, Sept 8 — Haze continues to affect air quality in several states, with dozens of areas nationwide recording unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings as of 10am today.
In Selangor, all six stations recorded unhealthy readings, with Johan Setia recording the highest at 168, according to data from the Air Pollution Index Management System (APIMS) portal.
This is followed by Shah Alam (163), Banting (159), Klang (155), Petaling Jaya (154) and Kuala Selangor (152).
In Kuala Lumpur, Batu Muda and Cheras also recorded unhealthy readings of 159 and 156 respectively.
The situation is more worrying in Sarawak, with four areas recording very unhealthy API levels.
IPD Serian recorded an API of 298, followed by Kuching (252), Sri Aman (232) and Samarahan (230).
Seven other areas in the state recorded unhealthy readings, namely Mukah (185), Sarikei (183), Samalaju (179), Bintulu (170), ILP Miri (169) Sibu (166) and Miri (164).
In several other states, the areas that recorded unhealthy air quality were Tasek Ipoh, Perak (161), Seri Manjung, Perak (158), Nilai, Negeri Sembilan (157), Tanjung Malim, Perak (156), Putrajaya (155), Pegoh Ipoh, Perak (152), Seremban, Negeri Sembilan (152), Alor Gajah, Melaka (138), Bukit Rambai, Melaka (124), and Labuan (110).
An API reading of zero to 50 indicates good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy and an API above 300 is hazardous.
The public is advised to reduce outdoor activities and take precautionary measures, especially those at risk, if the haze continues.
