Five areas in Selangor continue to read unhealthy air levels

SHAH ALAM, Oct 21 — Five stations in Selangor continue to record unhealthy air quality readings as of 5pm today.

According to the API Management System (APIMS) portal, Klang recorded the third highest nationwide reading in the unhealthy API level at 161.

Bukit Rambai in Melaka and Negeri Sembilan recorded the first and second highest unhealthy readings at 173 and 162 respectively.

Four more stations in Selangor recorded unhealthy API: Johan Setia (159), Petaling Jaya and Banting at 156 respectively, and Shah Alam at 155.

Kuala Selangor remains the only station in Selangor recording moderate air quality at 84.

All three monitoring stations in the Klang Valley: Batu Muda, Cheras, and Putrajaya, recorded unhealthy air quality readings at 155.

Of the 68 stations monitored, 20 areas showed unhealthy readings, 41 were moderate, and seven logged good air quality levels.

An API reading of zero to 50 is good, 51 to 100 is moderate, 101 to 200 is unhealthy, 201 to 300 is very unhealthy, and anything above 300 is hazardous.

Earlier, the Selangor Education Department announced that all educational institutions under its administration will operate as usual tomorrow.

However, all outdoor activities remain postponed due to the haze.
