MPS takes action against 23 unlicensed hawking activities

SHAH ALAM, Sept 7 – The Selayang Municipal Council (MPS) issued a total of 23 compounds during an Integrated Enforcement Operation targeting unlicensed hawking activities around Bandar Country Homes and Pekan Rawang, yesterday.

The operation led by the council’s Enforcement and Security Department in collaboration with the MPS Licensing Department to inspect premises and ensure compliance with the Selayang Municipal Council Hawkers By-Laws 2007.

The integrated effort focused on key commercial areas to monitor hawker activities and take appropriate action against operators failing to abide by the local authority’s regulations.

“A total of 17 compounds were issued at the Bandar Country Homes night market during the stint.

“The compounds issued involved nine cases of no hawking permit, two cases of permit holders using the services of foreigners in conducting business and six cases of permit holders being absent at the location during business activities,” the council said in a statement posted on Facebook.

In addition to the night market inspection, MPS said its enforcement officers issued two compounds at Jalan Pusat 1A in Bandar Country Homes and four compounds at Jalan Welman in Pekan Rawang, all for the offense of conducting hawking activities without a valid permit.

The council confirmed that all 23 compounds were issued directly without prior notices or confiscation of business goods.

MPS emphasised that they will continue to conduct regular inspections and enforcement actions from time to time to ensure that all hawking activities within its administrative jurisdiction comply strictly with established laws and licensing requirements.
