SHAH ALAM, Sept 3 — Local companies must benefit from the development of hi-tech supply ecosystems in Selangor, especially in the semiconductor, data centre and AI sectors, said state executive councillor for investment, trade and mobility Ng Sze Han.
He said this would open more doors for homegrown firms to expand and penetrate new markets, and that strong cooperation between industry players, government agencies, universities and research institutions is necessary to shape a sturdy supply ecosystem and narrow gaps in the industry.
“No one can build an industry by themselves. Cooperation between all quarters definitely helps reduce gaps and fulfil industry needs.
“The government also plays a role in helping open pathways and facilitate industry business, while universities and research teams provide talent needed by industries.
“When all these parties combine in the same ecosystem, business can be done and that’s how a supply chain is formed,” he said in a Facebook post.
Yesterday, Ng attended the Supply Chain Day Series 1: Exclusive Showcase from MaiStorage, held at Four Points by Sheraton Puchong and organised by the Selangor Information Technology and Digital Economy Corporation (SIDEC).
The event gathered industry players including semiconductor, design, data centre and AI firms, as well as government agencies, universities and research institutions.
He said the programme also aligns with the Selangor government’s efforts to develop the technology and semiconductor ecosystem through IC Design Parks and Ehsan Kapital.
“Among matters in focus are to link smaller industry players with bigger ones so it is easier (for them) to find customers, partners and space to grow,” Ng added.
