RAWANG, Sept 1 — Selgate Specialist Hospital (SSH) Rawang here was abuzz after welcoming the birth of two “Merdeka babies” for the first time, in conjunction with the 69th National Day celebrations yesterday.
The normal deliveries of the two baby boys were celebrated not only by family members, but also by the hospital staff.
The mother of one of the babies, Nur Zakiah Othman, 37, said that she and her husband, Samri Abd Hamid, 37, were grateful that their third child was born healthy and that the delivery went smoothly.
Zakiah, who is also a police officer, said National Day celebrations have always been close to her family’s hearts, but they never expected their child to be born on such a historic date.
"The expected date of delivery that the doctor gave was September 1. Many people around us prayed that my child would be born on Merdeka Day, and their prayers came true.
"I am happy and did not expect my child to be born on August 31 as it is the date that many people look forward to and wish for. Alhamdulillah, this date will be remembered forever and celebrated by all,” she told Media Selangor today.
Another mother, Nadira Zafirah Zamani, 36, and her husband, Ahmad Sharafuddin Ahmad Puad, 37, said they chose SSH Rawang for the birth of their third child after reading good reviews about the hospital.
The private sector employee said she was very satisfied with the good service and treatment she received, as well as the reasonable cost of hospital treatment.
“I read reviews on social media about SSH Rawang and the doctors here. So far, everything is good, and that is why we chose this hospital," said Nadira Zafirah, who lives in Bandar Puncak Alam.
Earlier, the families of both babies were celebrated by the hospital's Obstetrics and Gynaecology Ward staff and presented with special hampers containing baby essentials.
In October last year, Selgate Corporation launched SSH Rawang, its first major private healthcare facility in the central region. The opening ceremony was officiated by Dato' Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari in May.
The hospital reflects the company's long-term vision to provide quality, caring and accessible healthcare services to Selangor residents.
The hospital has approximately 193 staff, including 76 nurses covering more than 20 areas of expertise and sub-specialties.
