SHAH ALAM, Aug 28 — The Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj attended a Surah Yassin recitation, tahlil and doa selamat session held in conjunction with the state-level 69th National Day celebrations.
The Raja Muda of Selangor Tengku Amir Shah was also in attendance.
On arrival at Masjid Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah, His Royal Highness was received by Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari and state executive councillor for Islamic affairs and innovation culture Dr Mohammad Fahmi Ngah.
Also present were Selangor Islamic Religious Department director Datuk Mohd Shahzihan Ahmad and Selangor Islamic Religious Council chairman Datuk Salehuddin Saidin.
About 1,000 worshippers, including members of the security forces serving in Selangor, took part in the Surah Yassin recitation, tahlil and doa selamat led by Selangor Mufti Datuk Anhar Opir.
Sultan Sharafuddin later performed Friday prayers and listened to a sermon titled “Merdeka Daripada Belenggu Kerakusan” (Freedom from the Shackles of Greed), delivered by the mosque’s Grand Imam Muhammad Farhan Wijaya, who also led the prayers.
The state-level National Day celebrations will be held at Kajang Stadium at 8pm on Sunday (August 30), under the theme “Malaysia MADANI: Kesejahteraan Dinikmati”, in line with the national theme.
