PETALING JAYA, Sept 2 — Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) was crowned champion of the decorated vehicle competition at Selangor’s 69th National Day celebration at Stadium Kajang on August 30.
The victory reflected the creativity, dedication and patriotic spirit of MBPJ staff in expressing their love for the country through art and creative ideas.
Showcasing Petaling Jaya’s identity, the colourful float stood out with its vibrant design, capturing the attention of visitors throughout the celebration.
The council said its participation also demonstrated how patriotism could be expressed through creativity, collaboration and teamwork among its staff.
The state-level National Day celebration was officiated by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari and featured a range of activities.
These included a parade of decorated vehicles and contingents, performances by uniformed bodies, cultural performances, a light and fireworks show, and the Merdeka 69 Concert.
Adding a distinctly Kajang flavour to the festivities, 100,000 sticks of satay were distributed to visitors as a taste of the town’s iconic dish.
Also present was Petaling Jaya deputy mayor Sharinaz Samsudin.
