SHAH ALAM, Aug 16 — The robotics industry is no longer just coding and programming, but faces AI challenges in line with the rapid growth of technology, said state executive councillor for Islam and innovation Dr Fahmi Ngah.
“Innovation is no longer a choice, but a need, to the point where if there is no innovation, we are finished,” he added.
“I remember that on my trip to China, robot manufacturing involved primary school students, where they were not only inventing, but programming,” he said at the PKNS Robotics Challenge here today.

Earlier, the event, organised by the Selangor State Development Corporation’s (PKNS) Innovation Division, involved 48 students from 12 secondary schools in Selangor.
The competition features a Battle Soccerbot Challenge that tests students’ capabilities in designing, developing and controlling robots using automation, programming and 3D-printing technology.
In the competition, the SMK La Salle team emerged champions while the SMK Seksyen 9 squad were named runners-up.
