
SHAH ALAM, Aug 21 — Third time's the charm for Selangor diver Muhammad Haris Mohd Rezal who finally gets his gold medal during the men's one-metre springboard event at Akuatik Selangor today.
The gold medal completed his collection of three medals at the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA).
Haris recorded 353.80 points through six dives to beat Federal Territory diver Nurqayyum Nazmi Mohamad Nazim, who collected 347.70 points for the silver medal.
Yong Rui Jie, also representing the Federal Territory emerged third, collecting the bronze medal for the event.
Earlier, Haris won silver in the men's 3m individual springboard event and bronze in the men's 3m rhythmic springboard.
He said that ending his last SUKMA appearance with a gold medal was quite meaningful, especially after successfully beating the national diver."I feel very happy and satisfied to win the 1-meter springboard gold, especially after beating the national diver.
"This is my last SUKMA. I have represented Selangor in SUKMA since I was nine years old.
"I would like to express my gratitude to my coach and parents for helping me a lot all this time. I would not have succeeded without their encouragement," Haris told Media Selangor at Akuatik Selangor.
After closing his appearance on the SUKMA stage, Haris is now eyeing the opportunity to represent the country by using this achievement as a boost to gain him a place in the national diving squad.
