SHAH ALAM, Aug 20 — The development of Aneka Walk in Section 14 here is not merely aimed at attracting visitors, but also at building a business community and creating more economic opportunities for entrepreneurs, particularly Bumiputera.

Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS) group chief executive officer Dato’ Mahmud Abbas said the diversity of activities and business sectors in the area could create an ecosystem that encourages more entrepreneurs to grow.

He said Aneka Walk’s location, surrounded by various amenities including shopping centres, Kompleks PKNS, Shah Alam Lake Gardens, commercial centres and hotels, also gives it an advantage in drawing people to the area.

“PKNS built Aneka Walk to attract people. We have shops and shopping centres on both sides, with Kompleks PKNS and the lake nearby.

“Everything is available here, including shopping centres, the lake, commercial centres and hotels. Aneka Walk was built not only for people to come and enjoy the atmosphere, but also to build a business community through a variety of activities,” he said.

Mahmud was speaking to reporters after the launch of Temasya Aneka here yesterday. The programme features 18 events managed by KRU Entertainment.

Also present was KRU Entertainment president Dato’ Norman Abdul Halim.

According to Mahmud, facilities such as the library at SACC Mall, the Grand Mercure Hotel and co-working spaces in the surrounding area also help create opportunities for people to meet and build business networks.

“Business is about meeting people. So, we are creating opportunities for people to connect with others and, in turn, stimulate business activity,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mahmud said Temasya Aneka also serves to revive elements of arts and culture while providing another attraction for visitors.

He said various performances, including wayang kulit and joget lambak, would be organised to give the public an opportunity to rediscover the country’s arts and cultural heritage in a more open and accessible setting.

“Through the events presented here, we can learn about and rediscover our culture. Cultural dances should not only be performed in halls or in the presence of dignitaries. Ordinary people should also have the opportunity to reconnect with their culture.

“That is why wayang kulit, joget lambak and various other activities will be held here. God willing, they can also help attract tourists back to this area,” he said.

Mahmud said Temasya Aneka would not end when this year draws to a close, but would continue next year through the collaboration between PKNS and KRU Entertainment.

“The programme will not only run until the end of this year. It will continue because we are collaborating with KRU, which will manage this venue, and there will be more programmes in 2027,” he said.

Aneka Walk is part of the SA Sentral development, an investment by PKNS aimed at revitalising the pedestrian walkway between Kompleks PKNS and SACC Mall.

Spanning 4,500 square metres along a 300-metre stretch, Aneka Walk serves as an events and cultural hub capable of accommodating up to 3,000 visitors at a time.

It also provides 150 business lots for entrepreneurs across various sectors, including food, fashion, crafts, arts and music.
