PETALING JAYA, Aug 19 — Prasarana Malaysia Bhd is working with disabled folk (OKU) to improve accessibility along the LRT3 Shah Alam Line.
Prasarana Quality Assurance Division (Shah Alam Line) head Noor Aqilah Ahmad Tajedi said the effort includes raising awareness and understanding of OKU-friendly facilities included in the corporation’s public transport network.
“A survey session with the Persatuan OKU Sentral at the Shah Alam Line today gave OKU community representatives the chance to see and experience the facilities provided.
“Prasarana greatly appreciates the OKU community’s views and feedback to help identify room for improvement and ensure facilities meet the needs of every user,” she added at a press conference after the site visit, at the Damansara Idaman LRT3 station here today.

Meanwhile, OKU Sentral president Datuk Ras Adiba Radzi said she appreciates how Prasarana involved the disabled community in the session.
She added that facilities like washrooms were designed for disabled access, and lifts are wide enough for wheelchair users.
“However, we suggested that Prasarana provide more vans with lifts in the back, as well as (swivel seats) to ease the movement of OKU users, especially those with cerebral palsy.
“Signboards and penalties should also be clearer at OKU parking lots to prevent the spaces from being misused by irresponsible individuals,” she added.

Ras Adiba encouraged disabled folk to get the Rapid Mesra Pass, which lets them enjoy unlimited free trips on Prasarana’s rail, bus and Rapid On-Demand van services in the Klang Valley.
She also urged the OKU community to make use of public transport facilities and services.
The 37.8km LRT3 line, which links Bandar Utama in Petaling Jaya to Johan Setia in Klang, opened to the public on July 29 during a ceremony officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
