BANGI, Aug 14 — The state contingent added to its medal tally through the rhythmic gymnastics team, which won silver in the team event at the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA) at Dewan Tuanku Canselor, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia today.
The quartet of Yoong Bei Ru, Sam Lee Li Momoka, Ker Jia Wei, and Chew Huan Xuan delivered consistent performances across the four disciplines — ball, hoop, ribbon, and clubs — to accumulate 214.350 points.
The score saw Selangor finish second behind the Federal Territories, which won gold.
Team manager Saw Sue Ann said she was satisfied with her athletes’ performances and hoped they could make improvements ahead of tomorrow’s individual competition.
“I am very proud of their performances and want to fine-tune them for the individual events so that we can win gold.
“Our team is targeting one gold medal in rhythmic gymnastics, and we hope to achieve it in tomorrow’s individual events,” she told Media Selangor.
Meanwhile, Momoka, 15, said she is delighted with the silver-medal success but admitted to being slightly disappointed after making several mistakes in her routine.
She is determined to make amends in tomorrow’s individual competition, with the clubs event being among her favourites.
“I am happy, but I made a few mistakes in my performance today and want to do better in tomorrow’s individual event,” Momoka said.
The achievement has further motivated Selangor’s rhythmic gymnastics team to continue their quest for gold in the individual competition, while adding to the state contingent’s medal tally at SUKMA 2026.
