SHAH ALAM, Aug 14 — Familiar faces turned rivals as Selangor pairs faced each other in the men’s and women’s beach volleyball quarter-finals at the 2026 SUKMA XXII at MBSA Hall in Section 19 here today.
In the men’s competition, Selangor B’s Jonathan Wong and Tan Yong Jen booked their place in the semi-finals after defeating Selangor A’s Chee Wei Shen and Lee Ting Jian in straight sets, 21-16, 21-12.
The victory sent Selangor B into the semi-finals, scheduled for tomorrow morning.
In the women’s competition, Selangor A also advanced to the semi-finals after defeating Selangor B 21-10, 21-19.
Selangor B pair Tan Ann Ru and Lim Jing Qian attempted a comeback in the second set to force a decider, but Goh Yu Jie and Goh Yu Heng held their nerve to seal victory for Selangor A.
The results ensure Selangor remain in contention in both the men’s and women’s beach volleyball competitions at the 2026 SUKMA XXII.
