SHAH ALAM, Aug 13 — The Selangor State Legislative Assembly has unanimously approved the Second Selangor Plan (RS-2) after the motion was debated by about 40 assemblymen, including those from the Opposition.
Assembly Deputy Speaker Mohd Kamri Kamaruddin said the approval made RS-2 the state’s development policy document for 2026 to 2030, serving as a reference for all parties in determining its development direction.
“RS-2 2026-2030 will serve as a compass for all federal and state agencies, including departments, local authorities, subsidiaries, and stakeholders, in fulfilling the state’s development agenda.
“By approving it, the Assembly calls on all parties to pool their commitment to making Selangor an aspirational ASEAN Model State, building an economy based on the principles of justice and ensuring quality of life by 2030,” he said.
The motion was tabled by Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari on Friday (August 7) and debated by about 40 assemblymen before being approved today.
RS-2 outlines six missions, 25 areas, and 98 initiatives that cover economic development, people’s well-being, human capital development, balanced development across districts, environmental sustainability, and administrative efficiency.
In the economic sector, Selangor is targeting 6.1 per cent economic growth, total investments of RM330 billion, and a reduction in the unemployment rate to 2.2 per cent by 2030.
The Plan also focuses on narrowing the income gap between districts, while improving the quality of life through housing development, public transport, and supporting amenities.
The framework continues the First Selangor Plan, with the implementation of RS-2 now serving as the state government’s main guide in achieving Selangor’s development targets through to 2030.
