SHAH ALAM, April 19 — Selangor State Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Mohd Kamri Kamaruddin has urged assemblymen to make full use of the sitting, which starts tomorrow, to debate cost of living issues and current economic challenges.
He added that this sitting gives assemblymen a wider platform for debate as only one bill on forestry is to be tabled.
“We expect debate time to be lengthened to 10 to 15 minutes to allow assemblymen to bring up emerging matters, subject to the speaker’s conditions,” Kamri told Media Selangor.
He said more than 800 questions are expected to be submitted at this sitting, some touching on developments of the West Asia conflict and the state government’s moves to manage the crisis’ implications on the economy and the people.

“There are 313 oral questions and 404 written ones. Many questions related to West Asia developments and their impact on the current situation are set to be brought up.
“We will also look at the state government’s plans to manage this issue, especially in terms of the economy and people’s welfare.
“Besides policy issues, assemblymen are also given space to centre their constituency’s issues so the people’s voices are uplifted,” Kamri added.
He said preparations for the assembly sitting are going smoothly with cooperation from various agencies.
“This sitting is set to focus on cost of living issues and the state government’s efforts to formulate interventions to help the people in the current situation. This includes approaches and policy improvements that can be executed according to current needs,” Kamri said.
