PUTRAJAYA, Aug 12 — The Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) has announced the closure of airspace within the Kuala Lumpur Terminal Control Area from August 26 to August 29, and August 31 to facilitate rehearsals and the National Day flypast in Putrajaya.

During the closure periods, scheduled aeroplane take-offs and landings at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) will be temporarily suspended to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of the rehearsals and flypast.

The airspace closure schedule for rehearsals and the National Day Flypast 2026 is as follows:

  • From August 26 to August 28, the airspace will be closed from 11am to noon for rehearsals.

  • On August 29, a full rehearsal will be conducted from 8.45am to 9.45am.

  • On August 31, the National Day Flypast will take place from 8.45am to 9.45am.

Passengers travelling through KLIA during these periods are advised to check the latest status and schedule of their flights directly with the respective airlines, as some flights may be rescheduled or otherwise affected by the temporary suspension of aeroplane movements.

“CAAM would also like to remind the public that all drone or Unmanned Aircraft System operations are strictly prohibited within the affected areas during the rehearsals and National Day Flypast.

“Unauthorised drone operations pose a serious safety risk, particularly to aircraft operating at lower altitudes and may result in enforcement action under the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016,” it said in a statement.

CAAM appreciates the understanding and continued cooperation of passengers airlines, airspace users and members of the public during this period.

These temporary measures are necessary to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of the National Day Flypast while safeguarding the safety, security, and efficiency of Malaysia's airspace.
