Volunteers begin duties to ensure early SUKMA 2026 events run smoothly

SHAH ALAM, Aug 11 — Around 150 people have begun their duties as volunteers to ensure the smooth running of the early events of the 2026 Malaysia Games (SUKMA), which begins today.

A Media Selangor check at the MBSA Beach Volleyball Court found that the competition was proceeding smoothly, with volunteer management and venue operations under control.

SUKMA 2026 Volunteer Sub-Committee chairman Syamsul Tahrin Mohd Tahir said he is satisfied with the commitment shown by the volunteers on the first day, including the Selangor contingent's cheerleading squad, which helped create an energetic atmosphere at the competition.

Monitoring will continue at all venues to ensure that every volunteer carries out their responsibilities in accordance with their respective roles throughout the Games.

"Almost 150 volunteers have started their duties today. We can see that the atmosphere is very lively with our cheerleading squad present, and we will continue to monitor all volunteers at the other venues.

"We hope our volunteers will continue to be enthusiastic in contributing their service and support at other locations, because they are very important to the success of any competition," he told Media Selangor.

Syamsul, who is also the Selangor Youth and Sports Department's director, said that volunteers are among the backbone of the SUKMA 2026 organisation, helping to ensure smooth operations, providing services to athletes, officials, and members of the public, and ensuring the safety and welfare of visitors.

He is confident that the commitment demonstrated by the volunteers will help ensure that every competition venue operates smoothly, while providing athletes, officials, and supporters with the best possible experience throughout SUKMA 2026.
