SHAH ALAM, Aug 10 — Wong Chen has stepped down as Subang MP, effective today, having submitted his resignation letter to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul on August 5.
In a Facebook post, Wong said he had a “gentleman’s agreement” with Johari not to announce his resignation until today at 5pm. He added that the Wednesday submission was to allow Parliament three working days to prepare to vacate the Subang seat.
“We shall also be removing the honorific title of Yang Berhormat from all our billboards, signages and correspondence by next month,” he said in the post, which included a copy of his resignation letter.
“I will be holding a press conference on Wednesday at 11am,” he added.
Wong was Kelana Jaya MP from 2013 to 2018, and took the Subang seat in May 2018.
