SHAH ALAM, Aug 4 — The Subang meteorological station recorded a maximum temperature of 35.2ºC yesterday, among the highest in the country, according to the Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
Based on its daily maximum rainfall and temperature report, Subang logged the third-highest temperature in Malaysia after Kuala Krai in Kelantan (35.7ºC) and Temerloh in Pahang (35.3ºC), with Sandakan in Sabah (35.1ºC) taking fourth place.
The Subang meteorological station recorded 3mm of rain, while the KLIA station logged 4mm.
The maximum daily national average temperature was 33.3ºC, while Ranau in Sabah recorded the highest rainfall at 50.6mm, followed by Bintulu (32.2mm) and Limbang (27.4mm) in Sarawak.
MetMalaysia advised the public to be alert of weather pattern changes and obtain weather updates from the department’s website and social media channels.
The Super El Nino phenomenon is expected to start in November and could bring hotter weather, less rain, and drought in Malaysia, especially when the Northeast Monsoon ends next year.
MetMalaysia deputy director-general (operations) Ambun Dindang previously said the forecast is based on survey data from the United States’ Climate Prediction Centre (CPC).
