SHAH ALAM, Aug 11 — Subang Jaya state assemblywoman Michelle Ng Mei Sze has assured that services to residents in the area will continue following Wong Chen’s decision to resign as Subang MP.
Her office will ensure continuity of services and act as a liaison between residents and relevant agencies to help address issues, including those under federal jurisdiction.
“For the Subang Jaya area, my office will do its best to ensure services continue without interruption.
“Certainly, we will work to address matters that may be new to us, such as cases involving schools or citizenship, which are under the jurisdiction of the federal government.
“However, I will endeavour to act as a liaison between residents and the relevant agencies so that we can obtain the necessary assistance,” she told the media on the sidelines of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly sitting today.
Ng also thanked Wong for his 13 years of service to the Subang Jaya area, adding that she respected his decision to step down from office.
“Personally, he helped me when I first contested in Subang Jaya in 2018, and during my eight years in office, he has provided me with a lot of guidance,” she said.
Yesterday, Wong announced his voluntary resignation as the Subang MP in a Facebook post.
He said a notice dated August 5 was also submitted to the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat.
Earlier today, Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul confirmed Wong Chen’s resignation as Subang MP and said he had informed the Election Commission of the matter.
