SHAH ALAM, Aug 9 — The Mega Jobcare Selangor Career Carnival jointly organised with MYFutureJobs is aimed at jobseekers to not only connect them to employers, but also help them understand skills in demand by industries, Menteri Besar Dato’ Seri Amirudin Shari said.
He added that this approach would help address the mismatch between jobseekers’ skills and industry needs.
“Jobseekers must make use of opportunities under this programme to identify employment fields that suit their skills and abilities, as well as understand the skills they need to improve,” he said when officiating Mega JobCare Selangor Career Carnival with MYFutureJobs at the Shah Alam Convention Centre here yesterday.
Speaking to reporters after the event, Amirudin said the programme gathers 147 employers offering more than 11,000 roles. Of these, 98.4 per cent of jobs are located in Selangor, while 62.2 per cent offer salaries above RM3,000.
“I consider that to be an income that corresponds with living needs in Selangor. According to the labour market (data) in Selangor as of July 31, there were 71,718 active vacancies and 17,437 individuals had gained employment.
“We estimate that more than 10,000 jobseekers will attend this carnival,” he said.
Meanwhile, state executive councillor for human resources and poverty eradication Papparaidu Veraman said Mega JobCare Selangor reflects the commitment of and cooperation between various parties.
“It ensures Selangoreans have access to quality jobs and are able to improve their standard of living.
“This programme is not just a career carnival, but also a comprehensive human capital development platform, with jobseekers getting to participate in open interviews, job matching, same-day employment, resume review clinics, and career counselling,” he said.
