SHAH ALAM, Aug 11 — A total of 1,641 jobseekers secured employment through Mega JobCare Selangor 2026, held in collaboration with MYFutureJobs.

State executive councillor for human resources Papparaidu Veraman said the programme at the Shah Alam Convention Centre (SACC) also recorded more than 20,000 visits, making it one of Selangor's largest career platforms.

"More encouragingly, 1,641 candidates successfully secured jobs, while another 2,774 advanced to the second round of interviews.

"The programme, held on August 8 and 9, brought together 147 employers offering more than 11,000 job opportunities across various sectors," he said in a statement yesterday.

Papparaidu said 98.4 per cent of the vacancies were for positions in Selangor, while 62.2 per cent offered salaries above RM3,000.

"This demonstrates our continued efforts to provide quality, higher-paying employment opportunities for the people," he said.

He said the programme also offered a range of facilities and services, including job matching, open interviews, same-day hiring, MYFutureJobs On-The-Go, résumé clinics and career counselling.

"The programme also included upskilling initiatives, the Selangor Platform Career Transition Programme (PLATS), pocket talks, as well as various government services provided by state and federal agencies.

"Various initiatives have been developed to help people secure employment opportunities, improve their employability and build more sustainable careers," he said.

Papparaidu added that Mega JobCare Selangor not only provided wider access to employment opportunities but also served as a comprehensive career development platform for Selangor residents.

"The state government will continue to strengthen the Selangor Career Programme through strategic collaboration with the Social Security Organisation (SOCSO), industry players, government agencies and implementation partners," he said.

Previously, when tabling the Selangor Budget 2026, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari announced enhancements to the career carnival roadshow programme, including certification and skills development programmes.

A total of RM1 million was allocated for the initiative as part of the state government's efforts to address unemployment.
