P-hailing, e-hailing riders in Klang to enjoy rest stop between orders

SHAH ALAM, July 26 — P-hailing and e-hailing riders in Klang will soon have a dedicated rest stop — MBDK@Teduh on Jalan Teluk Pulai — which would give them a comfortable space in which to wait between bookings.

According to The Star, Klang Mayor Dato’ Abd Hamid Hussain said the project, valued at about RM150,000, is funded by an RM120,000 allocation from the Klang Royal City Council (MBDK), with the remaining RM30,000 provided by a state government grant.

“This facility is equipped with a roofed waiting area, phone charging ports and various other amenities to meet the needs of p-hailing riders,” he said.

Hamid also said MBDK@Teduh reflects the local authority’s commitment to providing facilities that cater to the needs of workers in the gig economy.

He added that Jalan Teluk Pulai was chosen as it is one of Klang’s busiest commercial areas and a popular location for delivery riders collecting food orders from nearby eateries.

The facility is also expected to improve road safety by giving riders a designated place to rest instead of them being forced to stop on road shoulders or other unsafe locations while waiting for orders.

A resident, Avtar Singh, 64, said Jalan Teluk Pulai is a suitable location as it has long been a gathering point for riders collecting food deliveries.

Meanwhile, p-hailing rider Mohd Hanafiah Shaari, 35, welcomed the initiative, saying it would provide riders with shelter from the heat and rain while they wait for orders.
