SHAH ALAM, July 22 — Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) issued nine compounds against premises found to be operating without licences and employing foreign workers without authorisation during an integrated operation today.
The joint operation with the Immigration Department (JIM) also saw 58 foreigners detained for allegedly committing various offences under existing laws.
In a Facebook post, MBPJ said the operation was conducted to ensure business owners complied with conditions, regulations and guidelines set by the relevant agencies.
“Overall, MBPJ issued nine compounds, carried out seven seizure actions, closed one premises and issued eight notices for various offences,” it said.
The operation, led by Petaling Jaya mayor Dato’ Mohamad Zahri Samingon, focused on Petaling Jaya Selatan and Mutiara Damansara.
MBPJ also urged the public to comply with the law and channel information on unlicensed business activities to the council.
“Let us work together to ensure the continued well-being, safety and harmony of Petaling Jaya,” it said.
