Flash floods hit Medan Selera 223, waters begin to recede

SHAH ALAM, July 18 –  The water level at Medan Selera 223 in Petaling Jaya has begun to recede after the area was hit by flash floods this afternoon.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department's Operations Division The assistant director Ashrul Riezal Asbar said they received a report of the incident at 4.35 pm.

He said a team from the Petaling Jaya Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) was dispatched to the location.

“Upon arrival at the location, the operation commander reported that the floodwater had reached two-metres deep.

"The water level has since shown a decreasing trend and there were no casualties or evacuations," he said in a statement today.

A total of 12 members of the Petaling Jaya BBP along with a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) were involved in the monitoring operation at a location located about four kilometres from the station.

Earlier, a live video that went viral on the TikTok application showed the food court area being flooded with water.

Several traders were seen moving goods and business equipment to higher ground, while the public was also seen helping them to reduce the risk of damage due to the flood.
