SHAH ALAM, JULY 18 — The upgrading works for the stalls in Taman Melawati in Jalan Bandar is now 44 per cent complete with the project expected to conclude this September.
The Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) said the project, worth almost RM1 million, provides more comfortable, safe and conducive business facilities for traders and visitors.
"The reconstruction and renovation works of the old Taman Melawati stalls were carried out after taking into account the condition of the previous premises which were dilapidated and no longer met current needs in terms of comfort, safety and environmental image," it said in a statement.
MPAJ said a total of 15 traders involved have been placed in temporary locations at the Melawati Bazaar and Anjung Melawati Food Court since the project began in March.

Among the scope of work implemented include rebuilding and repairing the roof, upgrading public toilets and surau, providing parking for cars and motorcycles, improving the dining area as well as landscaping works.
"The upgraded Taman Melawati stall facilities are expected to benefit more parties, especially business operators and visitors, thereby boosting the local economy in Taman Melawati," the council said.
