AMPANG JAYA, Jan 2 — Twenty-four Ampang Jaya Municipal Council (MPAJ) today took their oaths for the 2026-2026 term.

MPAJ deputy president Hasrolnizam Shaari said the positions were filled by 11 representatives from Parti Keadilan Rakyat, seven from Amanah, and six from DAP, with 16 of the total having been reelected.

“The term is from January 1, 2026, to December 31, 2027… After the swearing-in ceremony, we will hold a special meeting with the new councillors to decide their duties in their respective areas or zones.

“The 24 councillors involve 17 men and seven women, fulfilling the 30 per cent (female) representation standard,” he told reporters.

Earlier today, the councillors were sworn in before Hasrolnizam, who signed their acceptance forms.

When met after the ceremony, he said councillors are not just policymakers at the local government level, but facilitators who solve the people’s problems in their respective areas.

“I hope councillors practise governance with integrity, receive community complaints with empathy, and support the state and federal government’s sustainability agenda.

“They are also agents of unity and harmony in a plural society,” Hasrolnizam said.
