SHAH ALAM, July 17 — Approximately 153 Indian students from Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) campuses in Shah Alam and Bestari Jaya have received laptop computers through an initiative by the Malaysian Indian Community Transformation Unit (MITRA) to support their digital learning needs.
UNISEL's corporate communications director Hasril Abu Hassan said the assistance reflects its commitment to safeguarding students' welfare, particularly by ensuring they have access to essential learning facilities.
"The equipment assistance is a contribution from MITRA, with its implementation managed by Yayasan Didik Negara in close collaboration with UNISEL to coordinate the distribution process to the recipients.
"This initiative is expected to improve access to digital learning while supporting academic excellence and enhancing the learning experience in today's technology-driven education environment," he said in a Facebook post.
Hasril added that the collaboration among MITRA, Yayasan Didik Negara, and UNISEL also reflects their shared commitment to advancing inclusive education and ensuring that assistance is distributed in an organised manner to eligible students.
"This collaboration has enabled the distribution of the devices to be carried out more systematically and efficiently for the benefit of the students.
"With this assistance, we can ensure that no student is left behind in accessing quality learning facilities," he said.
The presentation ceremony at the Chancellery Building Lobby of UNISEL's Bestari Jaya Campus on Wednesday (July 15) was officiated by its Vice-President cum Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Development and Community Engagement), Associate Prof Hamdan Mohd Salleh.
