SHAH ALAM, Aug 27 — Approximately 112 Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) athletes are ready to take on the challenge during the 7th edition of the Higher Education Institutions Sports Championship (SUKIPT), which will be held at Universiti Malaya (UM) from tomorrow until September 6.
The contingent finalised its preparations at the Contingent Flag Handover Ceremony in Dewan Senat of the Bestari Jaya campus yesterday.
UNISEL's Corporate Communications Department said the flag handover symbolised the instutition's support for and confidence in the athletes’ ability to deliver their best performances throughout the championship.
“The flag handover also reflects the university’s confidence in the athletes’ ability to perform excellently, while upholding the values of discipline, integrity and sportsmanship throughout the championship,” it said in a statement today.
The flag was handed over to the Contingent Chief by UNISEL vice-president cum deputy vice-chancellor for student development and community engagement Assoc Prof Hamdan Mohd Salleh, who represented the president and vice-chancellor.
Also present were UNISEL management representatives, university sports contingent officials, sports management personnel, and the athletes who will represent the university at SUKIPT 2026.
As part of their mental preparation ahead of the championship, the UNISEL contingent also attended a webinar entitled ‘Excelling in Academic and Sports: Unlocking the Secrets of Student-Athlete Success’, delivered by Zulakbal Abd Karim from Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris' Sports Science and Coaching Faculty.
The session aimed to provide motivation and boost the athletes’ confidence in balancing academic excellence and sporting performance ahead of the SUKIPT 2026 competition.
