SHAH ALAM, July 17 — The Selangor Technical and Skills Development Centre (STDC) is actively developing Teraju AI 2.0, which is scheduled for completion by the end of this year, said its chief executive officer Harizal Hamid.

The application, which focuses on the education sector, is a continuation of the Teraju AI initiative introduced last year.

He said that STDC is transforming its administrative systems to improve management productivity and develop an AI-driven skilled workforce through the 2.0 version.

"We begin by addressing the current challenges faced by the agencies involved. We engage with each agency and assess how those challenges can be translated into AI-based solutions.

"Our focus is on the education sector, with a dedicated initiative to develop and sustain Selangor's education ecosystem in a comprehensive manner," Harizal told Media Selangor.

He added that Teraju AI is a public service transformation programme centred on artificial intelligence (AI), supported through a collaboration with Google Asia Pacific Ltd, which was formalised on March 24 last year.

Ten state government agencies and subsidiaries were selected to participate in the programme to develop AI solutions for their respective administrative operations.

"The programme is being carried out with the objective of developing a minimum viable product (MVP) for the proposed AI solutions," Harizal said.

Teraju AI 2.0 is specifically designed for administrative management and education, involving the Selangor Education Department, as well as the full-scale production development of the MVP.

It also includes establishing an AI incubator centre at STDC based on a sandbox facility concept, as well as developing AI solutions for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

"AI development initiatives for SMEs in Selangor are being actively strengthened through various programmes aimed at creating Intelligent SMEs. These initiatives focus on technology adoption, operational automation, and the digital transformation of local businesses," he said.

During the tabling of the 2025 Selangor Budget in November last year, Menteri Besar Dato' Seri Amirudin Shari said the state aspires to become a leading region in advancing the AI technology sector.

To achieve this, Selangor is working closely with industry partners to harness AI in efforts to improve workforce productivity and enhance the efficiency of the state administration.
