SHAH ALAM, July 15 — The Batu Tiga flood mitigation project is expected to be completed before the Northeast Monsoon starts at year end, said Batu Tiga assemblyman Danial Al-Rashid Haron.
He added that the project comprises Sungai Klang deepening works to improve drainage and the construction of a 3km floodwall.
“I want to thank the Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) as Sungai Klang deepening works are going well.
“The construction of a floodwall about 7m high is also underway. Its alignment is about 3km and needs a long time to build, but we hope it can be done before the end-year monsoon season,” he said.
Danial said the project would protect nearby residential areas and premises that are often affected when it rains heavily and the river level rises.
He added that the project will be prioritised so it is completed on time.
Besides flood mitigation, Batu Tiga’s development focuses on growing its industrial sector and improving its public transport system following the opening of the Shah Alam LRT3 line.
