SHAH ALAM, July 3 — A recycling processing facility in Ijok has been ordered to cease operations after it was found to be operating without a licence during an Integrated Operation on Recycling Premises conducted yesterday.

The Kuala Selangor Municipal Council (MPKS) said the operation was carried out by its Enforcement Department, in collaboration with the Environment Department, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the Malaysian Companies Commission, and the Kuala Selangor District and Land Office.

During the operation, which took place from 9am to 1pm, three recycling processing premises were inspected to ensure compliance with licensing requirements and relevant regulations.

“Inspections found that two premises possessed valid MPKS business licences, while one premise was operating without a licence.

“The premise concerned was ordered to cease operations and enforcement action was taken in accordance with the relevant legal provisions,” it said in a Facebook post.

MPKS added that it issued five compounds for various offences, including operating a business without a licence, failing to maintain the building's cleanliness, and placing piles of plastic sacks in a public area.

Four notices were also issued, including an order to cease operations, a notice to remove a public nuisance, a notice to remove obstructions, and a notice relating to the construction of a building without the council's written approval.

During the same operation, it seized several items of equipment used at the unlicensed premises, including a digital weighing scale, a fan, a trolley, and a hammer.

Meanwhile, PDRM also detained a Bangladeshi worker to assist with further investigations.

MPKS said it will continue to intensify its enforcement operations to ensure that all business premises comply with licensing requirements, cleanliness and safety regulations, and all applicable laws.
